영원히 16살로밖에 살 수 없다는 것
월요일 11시 어김없이 안녕 프란체스카 시간이다. 2부 들어서 좀 재미 없어졌다가, 오늘은 다시 그 특유의 위트와 풍자가 살아났다.
극중 소피아는 2000살. 하지만 여전히 16살이다. 16살에서 성장이 멈춰버린 것. 아무리 왕고모라고 하지만 어린애에 불과하다. 빨리 커서 이쁜 하이힐도 신어보고 싶고 등이 확 파인 섹시한 옷들도 입고 싶지만, 성장이 멈춰버린 그녀는 그럴 수가 없다.
비슷한 설정이 영화 하이랜더에서도 나온 적이 있다. 목이 잘리지 않는 이상 하이랜더는 영원히 젊음을 간직한다. 하지만 자신이 사랑하는 여인이 늙어가는 것, 죽어가는 것을 보는 것은 고통일뿐이다. 잠깐의 사랑의 기억은 영원히 사는 자의 외로움만 증가시킬 뿐이다.
이 영화에 느낌을 받아서 그룹 Queen은 Who wants to live forever란 명곡을 만들었다. 가사를 살펴보면 참 애절하다.
